Lost would never kill off Sawyer in such a dull way, falling to the rocks and dying alone? It would a nice touch of stark realism but this is a drama. Its a similar trailer to the ‘?’ in series 2, where Eko was seen falling off the cliff but it just turned out to be a dream.Its obvious in this case that Locke, who is seen below him climbing the ladder too, is just going to grab his hand and pull him back onto the ladder. Ideally he’d turn into the monster to do this, but I doubt it.
